Setting Up Photoshop

Changing Color Defaults

Adobe Photoshop in most cases defaults to the sRGB color space. This is good news for video, bad news for printing. To determine what color space your machine is using:

  1. Under the Photoshop menu click on the Color Settings option.
  2. In the Color Settings menu click on the Settings tab.
  • If Photoshop is set to North American General Purpose Defaults, you are in the sRGB color space setting which is better for video and web-posting.
  • If Photoshop is set to U.S. Prepress Defaults, you are in the Adobe RGB (1998) setting which is better for printing.
