To capture VHS tapes on the JVC decks, the decks need to be set up correctly first.
Press the round button on the JVS deck that says “S-VHS” on it, it should light up. Turn the channel to F-1, by pressing the channel indicator. Press the ‘S-VHS’ button at the lower left of the deck, next to the “DUB”. Put your tape into the VHS deck.
Bring up FinalCut Pro. Bring up the ‘Log and Capture’ Window. Click on the “Capture Settings” tab. Set the “Device Control” option to “Non-Controllable Device”.
Press play on the JVC, and then click on the “Now” button under the “Capture” area.
When you’re finished capturing, press the escape key.
NOTE: You will need to use the controls on the JVC deck to stop, play, pause, fast forward, and rewind.
There will be no controls in Final Cut Pro available.
