Sony EA50UH
The Sony EA50U is a full- sized, yet lightweight high definition video camera. The length of the camera combined with the built in extendable shoulder pad eliminates the need for a shoulder mount, making this camera ideal in the field for documentary style shooting. The camera has the same 18-200mm lens as the Sony FS100 but on the EA50U there is a built in servo for zooming, making it more user -friendly. The 18-200mm lens can be removed and replaced with a variety of the Film Department’s Nikon Lenses. The EA50UH’s APS-C CMOS senor is capable of recording in 1080P at 24,25,30 and 60 frames per second. In low light the camera’s sensor produces little video noise. The EA50UH is capable of shooting 16MP still photos without interrupting video recording.
Access, Instruction, and Support
The Sony EA50UH is provided for F&DM production students upon enrollment in one of the F&DM Department's production courses.
Access to the Sony EA50UH, like all of the department's A/V production equipment, is mediated through the Equipment Checkout Lab in accordance with course allocation assignments, and granted on an individual basis upon meeting specific criteria.
Any and all problems experienced with the Sony EA50UH should be reported to the Equipment Checkout Lab Specialist immediately; do not wait until returning the equipment to notify the Lab Specialist or Lab staff (See: Statement of Policies).
