This is a super cardioid “shotgun” condenser microphone. Super cardioid microphones have a highly directional pick up pattern which means they are good at picking up audio in front of the microphone while minimizing distracting noises to the side and rear of the microphone. This is useful when you can’t get close to what your recording or there is a lot of ambient noise from other sources. The Neumann KMR81 IMT is capable of capturing frequencies from 20Hz to 20K Hz and has a dynamic range of 116 db. The KMR81 IMT requires phantom power to operate. A pistol grip and shock mount is available for this mic.
